Student experiences of simulation-based learning and its impact on their performance in objective structured clinical examination in Pediatrics - A mixed method study

Objective: This study aims to assess the effectiveness of integrating simulation for teaching pediatric clinical examination skills undergraduate, MBBS Year-IV medical students at The Aga Khan University, Karachi, Pakistan.
 Methods: In this mixed method study, Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) scores who were taught using (batch 2017-2018) compared with batch academic year 2016-2017 (taught via traditional methods). order explore experiences intervention group, a questionnaire four open-ended questions was administered end clerkship.
 Results: Students by simulation, scored significantly higher on stations in Examination, than pre-intervention group (p-value <0.01). quoted safety learning environment, opportunities deliberate practice, debriefing and facilitation maximized that their experience through however, some challenges identified future improvement.
 Conclusion: result suggested as useful instructional strategy early years. student gained confidence practice feedback without compromising patient safety, which translated into improved performance high-stakes OSCE doi: https://doi.org/10.12669/pjms.39.4.7287
